
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the top level of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team along with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 to 2020. After graduating early from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional at the club , and also helped the team win their league championship. Morgan 22, then 22 years old, was the youngest national player to play at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 where she placed second. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final game against Canada. The 2012 season ended with 28 goals, 21 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. It made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to hit 20 goals in a season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was the FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan was instrumental in helping the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was also selected to the Dream Team. In 2019, Morgan won the Silver Boot.
